THE PIONEERS OF PSYCHEDELIC ROCK

Explore the stories behind the people who formed one of the most innovative bands in rock and roll history.

SIXTH ELEVATOR

Clementine Hall

Clementine is sometimes referred to as the “sixth Elevator”. She was married to Tommy Hall, the lyricist and jug player for the Elevators. Clementine played a big part in the emotional support for the band. She co-wrote “Splash One” on the Psychedelic Sounds Album and co-wrote “I Had to Tell You” on Easter Everywhere, both with Roky Erickson. Clementine’s voice can be heard singing on “I Had to Tell You”. Clementine never sang with the Elevators live, preferring to remain in the background.

Draw from the well of unchanging

And its union nourishes on

In the right, rearranging, until the last confusion is gone.
